문화재청 국립문화재연구소(소장 지병목)는 국내외 유적지에서 수집한 다양한 유물시료를 보관․관리하고, 체계적인 분석 연구를 수행하는 문화재분석정보센터(대전국립문화재연구소 내)를 15일 개관하고, 오전 10시 개관식을 개최한다.

문화재분석정보센터는 ‘21년 문화재 방사성탄소연대측정용 가속질량분석기와 2022년 광발광연대측정기를 구축하고 이를 기반으로 2025년까지 연대측정 분석체계를 마련할 계획이다. 이로써 국내 문화재 연구기관으로는 처음으로 문화재 시료의 전처리, 분석과 보관, 데이터베이스 구축까지 연대측정의 모든 주기를 국가 차원에서 관리할 수 있게 됐다.
* 가속질량분석기: 질량의 차이를 이용하여 극미량 동위원소를 분석하는 장비로 문화재 방사성 탄소연대측정에 활용됨
* 광발광연대측정기: 빛 에너지를 가했을 때 나타나는 현상을 이용하여 마지막 빛에 노출된 시기를 분석하는 장비로 토기, 기와 등의 제작연대 측정에 활용됨
또한, 그동안 문화재 범주에 들어가지 않아 자체 연구가 어려웠던, 발굴조사 중 출토되는 고생물 유체(사람 뼈, 동물뼈) 등 중요 출토자료들에 대한 연구도 가능해지면서 과거사를 더욱 과학적으로 연구할 수 있게 되었으며, 석재와 토기, 지류, 직물, 목재 등에 대한 각종 과학적 분석도 가능해졌다. 또한, 문화재청과 지자체 등이 각종 시료 분석을 요청할 경우에도 적극 지원할 수 있게 됐다.

문화재분석정보센터에서는 구체적으로 ▲ (1층) 유기물의 방사성 탄소연대 측정과 토기, 기와, 토양 등의 연대 측정, ▲ (2층) 옛사람 뼈의 성별과 연령, 신장과 각종 병리학적 분석 연구과 보관 공간, ▲ (3층) 토기와 금속, 안료 등 무기물 시료와 암석 등 무기물 재료의 보관, ▲ (4층) 토양과 음식잔존물 등의 성분 분석과 DNA 분석, 불화·회화의 바탕재료, 칠기와 아교, 염료 등의 유기물 분석 ▲ (5층) X선과 비파괴 분석, 전자현미경 등을 통한 무기물 분석 연구를 하게 된다.
15일 오전 10시에 열리는 개관식에서는 국립문화재연구소 보존과학연구실의 발자취를 돌아보는 영상 공개, 센터 건립을 위해 연구소가 2016년부터 준비해왔던 사업 내용이 소개되고, 오후 1시 20분부터 열리는 센터 개관 기념 좌담회에는 ▲ 국립문화재연구소 보존과학의 발자취(이오희, 한국문화재보존과학회 명예회장), ▲ 문화재분석정보센터 운영 방향(서민석, 국립문화재연구소 학예연구관), ▲ 문화재 보존과학의 발전방향(위광철, 한국문화재보존과학회 회장)에 대한 발표가 예정되어 있다.
토론회는 문화재분석정보센터 건립 이후의 보존과학연구실의 미래 방향과 우리나라 보존과학 중심시설로서의 역할을 찾는 자리가 될 것이다. 이번 행사는 ‘코로나19’ 확산 방지를 위해 최소한의 인원으로 진행되며, 보존과학 좌담회는 국립문화재연구소 유튜브로 실시간 중계된다.

문화재청 국립문화재연구소는 지난 50여 년간 축적된 분석 시료부터 분석 결과에 대한 모든 성과물을 빅데이터로 구축하고, 그 결과를 누구나 활용할 수 있도록 해 문화재 분석정보의 허브기관 역할을 해 나갈 것이다.

The 2021 Online Lecture Series on Understanding World Heritage Interpretation and Presentationsponsored by the Cultural Heritage Administration (hereinafter CHA), will be held once a month during 15 April – 18 November 2021.
The theme of the 2021 Online Lecture Series, hosted by the preparatory office for the International Centre for the Interpretation and Presentation of World Heritage Sites under the auspices of UNESCO (hereinafter the Preparatory Office for WHIPC), is ‘Presentation: Delivering Multiple Values of World Heritage.’ There will be one session every month for eight months (seven lectures with one special discussion in total) between 15 April to 18 November.
* Heritage Interpretation: the process and activity of understanding the meaning and value of heritage based on interpreters’ socio-cultural backgrounds
* Heritage Presentation: the communicative activities delivering those meaning, values, and heritage information
The 1st lecture on 15 April is Introduction World Heritage Presentation by Mario Santana, the Secretary-General of ICOMOS, followed by the lectures on World Heritage presentation in museums, tourism, digital technology, visitor-centered presentation, community participation, and media [See Attachment 1].
The last 8th section, which will be held in November, is a special dialogue under the theme of Inclusive and Participatory World Heritage Interpretation and Presentation between Neil Silberman, Professor at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst and the first lecturer of 2020 online series, and Mario Santana, the Secretary-General of ICOMOS and the first lecturer of 2021 series.
The first lecture of the series consisting of a lecture and Q&A is scheduled for Thursday, 15 April at 10:00 pm KST: a 30-minute lecture and a 15-minute Q&A session. The series will be streamed live on the preparatory office’s YouTube channel and Facebook page and www to all without prior registration. The sessions will be live-streamed in English; the English and Korean subtitles will be provided for the lecture videos to be uploaded to the preparatory office’s YouTube channel after the streaming.
